Frequently Asked Questions

How many psychology sessions do people usually need?

The number of psychology sessions depends on your individual needs, the type of issues you’re experiencing, and your personal goals. On average, many people attend a minimum of 10 sessions to create meaningful change, while others may benefit from longer-term therapy.

Is short-term counselling or long-term therapy better?

Some people only need short-term counselling to work on a specific concern, while others choose long-term therapy for deeper exploration and ongoing support. Jessica will work with you to create a plan that feels right for you.

Can I see a psychologist online?

Yes. Appointments are available via secure telehealth video calls, making it easy to access counselling and therapy from home. This is a flexible option if you’re located outside Geelong or prefer online sessions.

Do you offer face-to-face appointments in Geelong?

Yes. In-person psychology sessions are available at our Belmont practice in Geelong. Many clients choose face-to-face therapy, while others prefer online counselling — you’re welcome to choose what works best for you.

How much is an individual appointment?

Appointments are $245 for 50 mins. You may receive a Medicare or Private Health rebate. We also work with NDIS, DVA, TAC and WorkSafe. Find out more about Fees and Pricing here

What happens in the first psychology session?

In your first session, Jessica will take the time to understand your history, current concerns, and goals. Together, you’ll create a plan for therapy that feels supportive and achievable.

How long does each psychology session last?

Most sessions run for around 50 minutes. This gives you enough time to explore your concerns while keeping the therapy structured and focused.

Do I need a referral to see a psychologist?

You don’t need a referral to book an appointment. However, if you see your GP for a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP), you may be eligible for Medicare rebates for your sessions.

Can I use Medicare or private health insurance for psychology sessions?

Yes. If you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, Medicare rebates may apply. Some private health funds also provide rebates depending on your cover. Find out more about Fees here

How often should I attend therapy sessions?

Many people start with weekly sessions, then move to fortnightly or monthly as they progress. Jessica will work with you to find the right pace for your needs.
